Welcome to STAND

You’re reading our beta issue of STAND, a student-run digital magazine hosted by, but not exclusive to, The Honors Program at SBCC. STAND explores tough issues, interviews intriguing students, and takes the space to develop important ideas. We hope that in each issue the student-made material in STAND lingers in your mind and makes you rethink your actions. Because the most basic premise of this magazine is that students actively shape the world by standing up for their ideas.

Each issue of STAND will modify the title based on a word chosen by our interviewee.  For this first issue, Kenny Igbechi gave us “Up,” as in STAND Up. Every issue will feature three sections: an essay, an interview with a student, and “From the Podium,” our section that highlights work presented at the All-SBCC Student Conference. Our first “From the Podium” features our first prize winner from the 2018 conference, Jack Lent-Dengle.  As STAND grows, we will add more sections, reflecting the focus and desire of students.
